How to Turn Clip Art or a Logo into a Cookie Cutter

A beginner guide to using clean clip art, SVG files, and logos as the starting point for a custom cookie cutter in BakePress.

Why clip art and logos work well

Clip art and logos are some of the easiest starting points for custom cookie cutters. They often already have the thing a cutter needs most: a clear outside shape.

With BakePress, you can upload clean clip art, SVG files, logos, or line drawings, preview the cutter in the 3D Workspace, adjust the size, and export an STL file for printing.

Choose clean artwork

The best artwork is simple and bold. A strong silhouette matters more than tiny detail. Before uploading, look at the image and ask whether the outside edge is clear.

  • A simple mascot outline
  • A company logo with bold shapes
  • A holiday icon
  • A flower or leaf silhouette
  • A line drawing with clean edges

Upload to the 3D Workspace

If the clip art or logo is clean, open the 3D Workspace and upload it. BakePress uses the outline as the starting point for the cutter.

This is a good beginner workflow because you are not designing the shape from scratch. You are starting with artwork that already has a clear structure.

Check the preview

After uploading, inspect the 3D preview. Look at the outside shape and make sure it matches what you expected.

For logos, be careful with small text. Text can be hard to print and hard to press into dough. A simple logo mark often works better than a full logo with tiny letters.

When to use Dreamboard instead

Use Dreamboard first if the logo or clip art is not clean enough. For example, start there if you have a photo of a logo on a shirt, a screenshot with background clutter, shaded artwork, or a product image.

Once the design looks like clean cutter art, move it into the 3D Workspace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I turn a logo into a cookie cutter?
Yes, simple logos with bold shapes usually work well. Logos with tiny text, gradients, or thin lines may need to be simplified first.

Clean clip art is often one of the best starting points because it usually has a clear outline and simple shape.
Should I use a full logo or just the logo mark?
For cookie cutters, the logo mark often works better than a full logo with small text. Simple shapes usually print and cut more reliably.
